June 2008 Interview: Bill Cobbs


Bill Cobbs is an African American film actor whose career has spanned over 35 years and over 120 television programs and movies. You may recognize him from the popular films: New Jack City, The Bodyguard and Demolition Man, or from some of his more recent projects like Night at the Museum and The Sopranos – but he distinguishes himself through the work he does in the community. Cobbs has been part of several outreach initiatives from South Central to South Carolina – sharing his experiences and skills with young aspiring actors. I met with Mr. Cobbs at a soul food restaurant in South Central after he did a workshop with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. Blackademics, Bill Cobbs is in the building.
