Introduction:
James Moody is a preeminent jazz saxophon and flute player. His illustrious career started over 60 years ago when he joined the seminal bebop big band of Dizzy Gillespie in 1946. Three years later, disenchanted with American racism, Moody moved to Sweden where he recorded the masterpiece of improvisation for which he is renowned, Moody’s Mood for Love. Renditions of Moody’s Mood for Love have been performed by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, Quincy Jones, Tito Puente and Amy Winehouse. Blackademics, Welcome James Moody.
